The drum dryer consists of a hollow roller with a smoothly polished external surface heated internally by steam.

It rotates on its longitudinal axis. The liquid to be dried is placed in a trough known as feed pan.

The liquid is picked up by the roller as it rotates covering the surface in a thin film is removed mechanically by a scrapper known as doctor knife.

In drum dryer rotates on its longitudinal axis which is heated hallow metal drum , this metal drum is used to dipped in the solution to be dried .

As the dipping process completed the solution on the drum forms as a film on the surface of the dryer and made to dry, to form a layer on the surface of the metal drum. While the drum is rotating the suitable knife which is present just down to the metal drum scraps or peel offs the dried materials from the drum.

Product Working Principle

The drum dryer is a continuous operation device that dries the liquid phase material or ribbon material attached to the outer wall of the cylinder by means of heat conduction through a rotating cylinder. The material liquid to be dried flows into the material receiving tank of the drum dryer from the upper tank. The drying drum is driven by the transmission device, and the material is formed by the filming device to form a material film on the wall of the drum. The cylinder is heated continuously, and the moisture of the material film is vaporized by the heat transfer from the cylinder wall, and the material is scraped off by a scraper, and then conveyed to the storage tank through a screw for packaging. It has high thermal efficiency and can be operated continuously, so it is widely used in the drying of liquid materials or strip-shaped materials, and is more suitable for paste-like and viscous materials.

Product Features

High thermal efficiency. Because the heat transfer mechanism of the drum dryer is heat conduction, the heat transfer direction is consistent throughout the rest of the operation cycle. Except for the cover heat dissipation and heat radiation loss, the heat is all used for the evaporation of the wet film of the film, and the thermal efficiency can reach 80%~90%.

The operation is flexible and wide in applicability. Many drying factors can be adjusted for the drum dryer. For example, the concentration of the feed, the thickness of the coating film, the temperature of the heating medium, the rotation speed of the drum, etc., can change the drying efficiency of the drum dryer, and many factors are not involved. This brings great convenience to the drum drying operation, so that it can adapt to the drying of various materials and different production requirements.

Drying time is short. The drying cycle of the material is generally only 10-300 seconds, which is more suitable for heat sensitive materials. If the drum dryer is placed in a vacuum, it can be operated under reduced pressure.

The drying rate is large. Since the coating film is thin on the wall of the cylinder, generally 0.3-1.5mm, and the heat transfer and mass transfer directions are the same, and the surface of the film can maintain the evaporation strength of 100-150kg H2O/m2.h.
